Located on the palm-fringed foreshore of Fannie Bay, the Museum & Art Gallery has hosted the Award since 1984 and with Telstra's support now distributes over $50,000 worth of prizes. The doubling of Telstra First Prize in 2001 to $40,000 now makes it one of the richest art awards in the country.
