Watiyawanu & Western Desert Art: Melbourne 2004

The Watiyawanu Community Art Centre from Mt.Leibig brings their work annually to Melbourne and Sydney audiences, together with some of their artists.
The works on show includes that of emerging artists as well as renowned painters such as Billy Stockman, Ronnie Tjampitjinpa, Turkey Tolson, Gloria Petyarre, Lilly Kelly, Long Tom Tjapanangka, Clifford Possum, Malcolm Jagamarra and Johnny Warangkula.

The stories on canvas will be brought to life through the traditional stories and painting demonstrations by the some of the talented Watiyawanu artists who attend the exhibition.

These artists will travel from Mt Liebig, 325 kilometres west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory’s Western Desert for this annual exhibition spectacular.

Melbourne: at Chapel on Chapel Prahran, from Thursday June 3 until Saturday June 12 and comprises of art from both the Watiyawanu Community Art Centre and private collections.

Sydney: Wednesday 16 June – Saturday 26 June at Mary Place Gallery Paddington.
