An environmentally conscious gallery called Sculptree opens in Melbourne. Published Saturday, August 14, 2004Sculptree is a special gallery established to ensure that those gorgeous old trees that come down after a storm or with a development are put to some use other than for wood chips. View the works created by chainsaw. Works in Cypress, Blackwood and Redgum are on display.
Sculptree offers the following
services:
Artists in Schools Program - An artist visits the school and works with a group of students. Their collaboration results in a finished piece of chainsaw sculpture. Sounds scary but the kids and the artist have a great time!
Gallery - Come on inside to view the works of several chainsaw artists, or immerse students in the ecological debate surrounding the use of timber in our society. Is it art? Of course it is.
We can help clients achieve a lasting outcome when "that tree" just has to come down. No! We don't do tree lopping. Yes! We do research and consult with your local community to ensure that carved segments of the tree remain as treasured reminders of the tree's existence. |
