Wedding photography that won't be a pie in the eye.

Australia's most recognised photography industry body, the Australian Istitute of Professional Photography (AIPP), will launch two new initiatives today to help put an end to wedding photography disasters.

Pro Wedding Photography Website

This free tool for brides and grooms will help with the difficult decision of choosing a professional photographer to capture one of the most momentous occasions in their lives.
Visitors to the AIPP's new website, www.proweddingphotography.org.au, will be able to find a professional wedding photographer in their local area or one that is willing to travel to their location if need be. All photographers listed on the new site have gone through the accreditation process to become an Accredited member of the AIPP.

To ensure that their skills as a photographer remain of a high standard, as of January 2011, all AIPP accredited photographers must participate in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program. The website will also feature valuable information which will allow brides and grooms to make educated decisions about employing the right photographer to do the job.

There is a dedicated area for articles about photography and photographers as well as information about the importance of hiring a professional for their special day.

iPhone Application

In addition to the website, brides and grooms can download a free app for iPhones which features the same benefits as the site. Currently, there is no other iPhone application available that offers a list of quality wedding photographers by state. To download the app, search for AIPP on your iPhone. The app will soon be made available for Blackberries and Androids with a release date to follow.

The development of the site came from an obvious need by Australian brides to be able to locate a quality photographer that they trust will be able to deliver the right results, says AIPP Executive Officer Peter Myers.

The AIPP has heard countless horror stories about 'cowboy' photographers who undermine the standard of professional wedding photography in Australia. We decided that enough was enough and that quality photographers who have years of experience, extensive knowledge and training need to be publicly recognised for their ability to deliver professional results. Both the website and iPhone app offer superior imagery from some of Australia's best and award winning photographers - all in the one place, continued Peter.

We hope that brides and grooms around the country tap in to this free service available to them to ensure that their precious moments are captured in the way they deserve. We strongly recommend that customers 'look for the logo': the AIPP accredited photographer logo - a mark of a true professional photographer, says Peter.
